Tomori Nagamoto

This wonderful ballpoint pen drawing is by one of my favourite artists, Tomori Nagamoto. Tomori was born in Japan and established his career as a contemporary artist here in Toronto.

Tomori’s work has been featured as part of an exciting project in Toronto called Bank on Art, which showcases contemporary artworks on the display screen of a functional bank machine. The objective is to engage and expose the general public to the work of artists through an existing routine activity.

On Saturday 16th March I visited Tomori’s Sweet Art exhibition which is currently being held at Art Barrage, Suite 208, 80 Spadina Ave,Toronto. It was a wonderful experience and I was fortunate enough to spend some time talking to Tomo. He is always gracious, humble and very inspiring. The exhibition raises some very interesting questions about the impact of large corporation and trademarks on our culture and he encourages us to support small local organizations.

Check out his own website for more information and news on his current exhibition in Toronto.
